Free Earthquake Preparedness Class April 14

Red Cross class will help Orange County be ready

Contact: Daphne Hart, (714) 481-5 375

SANTA ANA, Calif. – On Sunday, 20 million people were rattled by a 7.2 earthquake. Because our community may be wondering how to prepare for a larger event, the American Red Cross will be offering a free earthquake preparedness class next week.

The class, which will be held on April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at 600 Parkcenter Drive in Santa Ana, will cover the different types of disasters that can impact our community and how to take basic steps to prepare for each.

In addition, attendees will learn what to do – and what not to do – during an earthquake.

“We need to get ‘drop, cover and hold on,’ into our mindset, but this class covers so much more,” said Monica Ruzich, a Red Cross preparedness specialist. “We know a large earthquake is coming and this class will help you get ready.”

To sign up for the free presentation, please contact Monica mruzich@oc-redcross.org or (714) 481-5329.

Help people affected by disasters by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. Your gift enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to victims of all disasters. Call (714) 481-5300 or 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to the American Red Cross of Orange County, 601 North Golden Circle, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
